Can del Mulo, a finca from 1773
Can del Mulo is a traditional Ibizan finca for rent, built in 1773 on a hilltop in the municipality of Sant Antoni de Portmany, close to Santa Gertrudis and looking across to the old church of Sant Mateu. The property has 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and 900 m2 built on 38.000 m2 of agricultural land, in an area classified as historic. A stone wall and a fenced boundary enclose the grounds, which sit inside a gated estate, and the views run from the hills to the open countryside. The house has stayed in use and keeps the character of a working country house earned over two and a half centuries. Around it, parks and gardens give way quickly to farmed land.
The finca and the casita
The 7 bedrooms are all doubles, four of them in the finca itself and three more in an independent guest house, alongside a further bedroom for staff. The master bedroom has a dressing room and an en suite bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a reverse osmosis water filter, and the whole house is served by central heating. There are three living rooms, each with its own fireplace, a dining room, an office, a laundry, a guest cloakroom, a patio and a games room with a bar. Land, orchard and vineyard
Much of the 38.000 m2 of land is agricultural, planted with fruit trees and a vineyard, with generous gardens laid out around the house. The pool sits among them, sheltered from the track and turned towards the valley views. Santa Gertrudis, with its restaurants and its square, is close by, and from the hilltop the whole inland north of the island opens up. The finca is offered as a holiday rental and holds a touristic rental licence; the energy certificate is in process. Its condition is that of a house in use, cared for and lived in rather than newly built.
