Carbon neutral living
Villa Hebe is a family villa for rent in the countryside of Sant Antoni de Portmany, on a hill that guarantees privacy for the whole of a stay, and it is the first carbon neutral house in Ibiza. Completely renovated in 2022, it carries the latest technical solutions and is close to self sufficient: it generates 80% of its energy through solar panels, and any additional CO2 drawn from the grid is offset by the owner's participation in a non profit tree planting programme. There are 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms across several levels, with one of the finest views of Sant Antoni and of the sunset. The water comes from a private well and is held in two tanks of 25,000 litres each that refill automatically. In summer and on sunny days the sun heats it, and in winter it is heated by the house boilers.
Living, kitchen and rooms
The generous living room has a seven metre sofa, dimmable lighting as in every other room, a pellet stove for heat, air conditioning for cooling, a wine fridge and a 55 inch Samsung television with Apple TV and ChromeCast, and it was designed to let the sun reach right through to the kitchen. The large dining table, reclaimed from a monastery, seats 12 and can be reached separately from the kitchen, which is the heart of the house and its meeting point: made to measure, with high quality equipment, a large fridge, double freezer drawers, an induction hob, oven, dishwasher, toaster, blender, juicer and professional Nespresso kettle. There is also a complete office with 4k HDMI screens, a printer and chairs comfortable enough for a full day, lit from the north and a step from the kitchen. The master bedroom sits on the top floor, with a private balcony for the sunset, a bathroom with a large shower and double basin and a direct connection to the office; the olive room is on the main floor, with its own bathroom, a large wardrobe and the quiet morning sun; the golden hour room, at entrance level, has its own separate toilet and the warm palette that gives it its name; the sea room, on the ground floor opposite the main entrance, takes its colours from the blue of the Mediterranean; and at terrace level are the cactus room, with bath, shower and double basin and direct access to the pool, and the sun room, with a shower room and a wide wardrobe. Most of the rooms can be set up either as one large double or as two singles.
Between Sant Rafel and Sant Antoni
The central countryside position between Sant Rafel and Sant Antoni makes this a perfect base for exploring the whole island: the striking sunset beaches of the west are ten to fifteen minutes away by car, as are the genuinely Ibizan villages of Santa Gertrudis and Santa Agnès, ideal for tapas and dinner. Outside, the dining area seats 14 around a reclaimed dragline table five metres long, in the shade and in a light breeze that lets you escape the heat in summer and stay warm in winter, next to a built in barbecue with a sink for grilling local fish, meat or vegetables, while the large 60 m2 pool is ringed by 12 sun loungers and the garden keeps its olive trees and a fifty year old cactus. Every bedroom, the kitchen and the office have their own air conditioning that heats, cools and dries, with low noise modes for sleeping, and the pellet stove in the living room has enough capacity to heat all the upper floors. The house runs 9 wifi access points and off grid internet through the Starlink system, and its 77 smart switches are handled by a central system that turns the garden lights on at sunset and switches lights off when a room is no longer in use, optimising consumption and cutting the carbon footprint. It is completed by an alarm system that guests can use, security cameras at every entrance which can be disabled or their footage deleted on request, and an electric car charger. It is offered as a seasonal holiday rental, furnished and equipped, under a touristic rental licence, and the energy certificate is in progress.
