Cala Mastella

Cala Mastella is a narrow rocky cove on the east coast reachable only by a short walk or by boat. Its size and limited access have kept it one of the more unspoiled corners of this side of the island. A single beach restaurant built directly into the rocks serves simple grilled fish caught that same morning with no menu beyond the day's catch. Tables are basic and the whole experience runs on island time rather than a fixed schedule. The cove itself is calm and clear which makes it good for swimming and snorkelling once the small crowd that gathers here has settled in. Parking is limited so arriving early in the day is worth the effort. For residents in the east of the island Cala Mastella has become something of a rite of passage rather than a simple beach visit.
